In March 1978, Garry purchases his first Limousin heifer

In March 1978 Garry purchases his first Limousin heifer, Clanranald Jenny as his second last 4-H project.
Our herd has grown from this animal and purchases in the late 70’s and early 80’s from; Clarence and Shirley Ackert, Kincardine, ON., Howard Wollis, Mt. Forest, ON., Nordic Farms, Cambellville, ON., Cove Valley Limousins, Campbellville, ON.

This business was started with a 4H calf and while we have always been involved in showing cattle at our local fairs, our cattle are not pampered. Each one has to earn its keep.

Over the last 45 years Smart Limousin has grown from one 4-H calf to a herd of approximately 100 cows. Here at Smart Limousin we believe in superior Herdsires. Please view our complete list of Herdsires on the herd sire page.

Smart Limousin has always been very much a family affair. Garry’s parents Raymond and Kathleen encouraged Garry in his Endeavour in to the Limousin business and continued in their semi-retirement to remain involved in the operation. Dad’s support and helping hand has been greatly missed the past few years.

We were very honored to be chosen to receive the 2000 Ontario Limousin Association Breeder of the Year.
